Essay writing

Today in class, we finished writing our exam essays. I think I did pretty good and hopefully mr. schick will think so too. I felt like I hit. all my main points I needed to talk about and I felt like I did well on conveying the answer that was being asked. I wasn't too stressed for this because with the notecard I felt comfortable with the answer I was writing on my paper. by using the notecard, I didnt have to stress over memorizing my whole essay to get a good grade. now I need to study for the multiple choice exam and get ready for next week. Hopefully I will be able to do good on my exams and feel comfortable on the exam days.

Essay preparing

Today in class, we finished preparing for our essay part of our exam. We got to use Index cards and. write down the things that we. felt were important in our essays.  We. are able to use the index. cards in our exams tomorrow so hopefully it will help me and my classmates to do well on our essay. I picked option number 2 because I felt like it was my. most comfortable subject that we've learned so far and hopefully my choice will do me justice when I find out my grade. Tomorrow im going to take my time and make sure I re read and think hard when I write the essay so I can perform well. A big thanks to Mr. Schick for letting us write down our main points for a cheat sheet on the exam.

Preparing for exams

Today in class, we started off with our prayer, and then we looked att he study guide to start outlining our essay. I picked essay question number two. I felt like #2 was a good choice because I feel the most comfortable with the population pyramids and how to look at them and determine the statistics from it. I started writing my essay and I was a bit frustrated. the essay I was writing wasn't what I had planned it to be so I just erased the whole thing and started over. I asked a few people for their input. on how they started their essays and I felt more comfortable. Now im a bit stressed about Friday when we have to write the essay without having out outline with us. I'm not sure how im gonna remember the. outline and what I should write but im going to study it today and tomorrow to see how if I can remember the basic points. Im very stressed because exams are coming up and im not sure how im going to do. I need to do well on the exams to get a good grade in my classes and hopefully end up with a good grade.

Demographic transition quiz

Today in class, we took the demographic transition quiz. I didn't feel very comfortable with the questions on the quiz and now I think I'm going to get a bad grade on it. Hopefully it won't bring my grade down too much and i'll have a bad grade in the class. Im a kittle stressed over my grades right now and I'm bring to bring them all up and now I'm stressed about exams that are coming up next week. I want to do good on the exams and I want to make sure I have fairly good grades and a good gpa this quarter even though I don't think i'll have a very good gpa. We have exams and then we have two weeks more after break until the semester ends. Hopefully i'll be able to bring my grades up.

Demographic transition Videos

Today in class, we watched the Khan academy video again so we could review for our demographic transition quiz we will have on Monday. Hopefully I will do good on the quiz because I need to bring up my grade in this class to get a good GPA. This weekend I'm going to study my notes for the quiz and then I might make a quilt for me and a few other people to use. Im going to rewatch maybe one or two of the videos and then look over my notes/pictures that I took and then be ready for the quiz. This weekend I have my show that I'm in and then once its over, ill finally be able to get a good amount of sleep. this week has been very stressful and full of anxiety and nervousness but hopefully this weekend will go well and I can relax.

More on demographic transition

Khan academy video:

• Growth rate measure how much the population grows or shrinks over some time period
• Stabilization more often occurs in industrialized countries rather than the pre-industrialized countries because they rely on advancements from industrialized countries.
• With more people dying than being born, it would be a negative growth rate

Kim Smith Video:

• in the 1800's population grew by only 67,000 people each year, while now it grows an immense amount each year compared to the 1800's
• Because of things like the plague, war, famine and poor living conditions many people used to die young creating high death rate across the world.
• children were defined as assets and property to the parents

Why populations grow video:

• Japan is expected to lose 20% of its population by the year 2050
• the changes in birth and death rate and their effect on the total population of a country can be shown on the demographic transition models 
• stage four countries have strong economies, a highly educated population, strong healthcare systems, and more woman on the work force.

My favorite video was the khan academy video. it has visual images of the demographic transition models and it thoroughly showed me what it meant when a population grew or fell. The video showed me how and why the rates of each category would seem to fall and it showed me what effected the population.

Demographic transitions

Today in class, we talked more about demographic transitions which is a model that describes population change over time. we watched two videos and we learned about the five stages of the models and what each means. countries used to be at a stage one model and now most are at a stage 3 or 4 model which means that our population is almost at a constant rate of change. We read over the paper from yesterday and read through each stage of the demographic transitions. Then, when we watched the videos, we paused every so ofter to talk about the use off the sentence that was being told and we learned about the different categories each stage has.

I was not in class today because I was sick.
