Greek Architecture

Today in class we researched greek architecture.

The picture below is a greek temple. These were buildings that were surrounded with a row of columns. Above the columns was a decorative panel of sculpture called the frieze and above the frieze was a triangle shaped part with sculptures called the pediment. Inside these temples housed the God or Goddess of the temple.
The picture below is an odeon. this is a building meant for theatrical performances such as singing and such. The theatre has 33 rows of seats that can hold approximately 6,000 people. They were built in a round shape with a MainStage in the front of the seats.
